American singer-songwriter Chris Brown has been arrested on suspicion of assault, on Tuesday evening.
The LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) received a call for help by a woman from Brown’s Los Angeles residence, reports CNN.
Brown was allegedly arrested with a deadly weapon Tuesday evening, LAPD Lieutenant Chris Ramirez said in a press conference.
Law enforcement officials spent a few hours at the singer’s residence before he was taken into custody. Brown will be transported to an LAPD jail for processing, according to CNN.
“My client’s position is that we’re coopering,” Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos told HLN’s Dr. Drew Pinsky. “There’s no truth to it, and we’re going to let it play out.”
The accuser in the case is a woman named Baylee Curran–2016 Miss California Regional title holder–according to TMZ and the Los Angeles Times.
Curran claims Brown pointed a gun at her after she admired a piece of jewellery a friend of his was showing her.
“I don’t know if it was Chris’ friend or how he was related, but that’s when he told me to back away from the diamond necklace and started cussing me out and calling me names,” she told the LA Times. “That’s when Chris pulled his gun and told me to ‘Get out.’ He said ‘I’m sick of you girls, get the F out!'”
The LAPD has not confirmed her name, Baylee Curran, as the accuser.
Earlier on Tuesday, Chris Brown took to social media to post videos that delivered a message against the police and the media, effectively saying he was being portrayed as a villain.
The 27-year-old singer was put on probation for five years in 2009 after pleading guilty to a felony assault over an attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna. He was jailed for about three months in 2014.
