PS4 owners can access online multiplayer this weekend, even if they don’t have a PlayStation Plus subscription.
Sony is hosting a PlayStation Plus open weekend from June 24, which means that non-PS Plus subscribers can play online for free.
The PlayStation Plus open weekend begins at 10am on Friday, June 24 and ends on Monday, June 27 at the same time. That’s 72 hours of online action in games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, FIFA 16, GTA 5, Destiny and The Division.
“Round up your buddies pronto or find new ones online from around the world because now is the perfect time to check out all the newest multiplayer games and DLC you own,” reads a PlayStation blog post.
“Whether you choose to journey through hell in Doom, fight through paradise in Uncharted 4 or get in the sporting spirit with Pro Evolution Soccer, the world of online multiplayer is your oyster for an entire weekend.
“So boot up all your favorite titles and get online – there’s no excuses for missing out!”
Unfortunately, however, the free PlayStation Plus weekend doesn’t include additional perks like free games or cloud storage.
PlayStation Plus subscriptions cost anywhere from £5.99 a month to £39.99 for the entire year.
PS Plus members receive at least 24 free games every year, exclusive discounts and 10GB of cloud storage.
Even more free games are available if you own the PS3 and PlayStation Vita. This month’s selection of PS Plus freebies includes NBA 2K16 and Gone Home on PS4, Echo chrome and Siren: Blood Curse on PS3 and God of War: Chains of Olympus and Little Deviants on PlayStation Vita.
