Stephen Hawking, a renowned theoretical physicist, gives a statement at the Oxford Union earlier this week that the humanity needs to find another place to live. He said: “I don’t think that we will survive another 1000 years without escaping our fragile planet. I therefore want to encourage public interest in space, and I have been getting my training in early”.

This is not the the first time he predict that our planet is on the edge. In 2013, during a speech at Cedars-Sinal Hospital, he made the same prediction. In 2010, he said: “It will be difficult enough to avoid disaster on planet Earth in the next hundred years, let alone the next thousand, or million. The human race shouldn’t have all its eggs in one basket, or on one planet. Let’s hope we can avoid dropping the basket until we have spread the load.”
